The
Necessity of Baptism:
Acts 2:37 & 38
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart,
and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and
brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent
and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of
the Holy Ghost.
The New Testament is very clear of the necessity of Baptism
for Salvation. In Acts 2.38 we see that in order to obtain salvation,
a person needs to Repent and be Baptized...This removes sin.
A couple
of points can be made here:
Peter told the multitude to Repent. This is a necessity for
their remission of sins.
In the same
sentence, Peter also tells the multitude to be baptized.
This too is a necessity for them to have their sins remissed.
Therefore,
it is clear, based on these verses, salvation does not come before
Baptism.
